1. OFF THE GRILL

The Grandview Woodland Food Connection pleased to announce that Off the Grill has resumed for the summer months. This means healthy, fresh meals prepared with teens from the Britannia Teen Centre served in the Britannia Community Centre Plaza at Napier and Commercial Drive.

Meals served Wednesday and Fridays at 6:30 pm. Youth and community welcome.

Youth who dedicate time to helping with prep, serving and/or clean-up over the course of the summer are eligible for a culinary certificate! Some may be eligible for school credit. 

Come eat! Everyone is welcome, Wednesdays and Fridays at Britannia Community Centre Plaza, Napier and Commercial Drive. $5 suggested donation a person. Youth free.

Donate your time.
Volunteer for food prep—make conversation while skewering!
We need one more chef/cook!Help us build our donation base—reach out to your contacts and the services you use, would they consider donating food or other resources? 

Donate your money. We struggle to make ends meet and we want to grow the program. A little money goes a long way. Of course, anything helps. Support a healthy meal for $150-250. Donate fuel for $50.

3. LATIN AMERICAN CORN FESTIVAL

Presented by the Canada El Salvador Action Network, the Grandview Woodland Food Connection and Britannia Community Centre are pleased to host the 9th Annual Corn Festival at Britannia Community Centre . This Festival is a popular event within the Latin American community here in Vancouver, celebrating the social, cultural,and political importance of corn to the people’s of Latin America.

All rate welcome to join us in this fun fiesta celebrating corn in all its tasty forms. Lots of great Latin American food to eat, dancing, and musical performances, children's activities. This is an all ages free event.

4. NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING SERVICE

Nutritional counseling services by a certified holistic nutritionist and herbalist will be available for under-served residents and open to all community members on a sliding scale basis. This service is aimed at helping you navigate the food choices available in our area and choose the foods that are best suited for your health, taking into consideration any health issues or goals you may have. Improved eating habits can help boost your physical and mental health. This service also aims to help connect residents to affordable, accessible, healthy food programs and options. Service available Tuesdays 6-9pm.

5. VANCOUVER FRUIT TREE PRUNING PROJECT

The Vancouver Fruit Tree Project is proud to present our new pruning social enterprise project for the 2014 season, “Fruit Tree Pruning with ISA arborist Todd Barisky”. Proceeds will go to support The Vancouver Fruit Tree Project.

1. GWFC - JOURNEY TO HEALTH SUMMER FOOD WORKSHOPS



































2. INTRODUCTION TO CANNING

Learn how to can and preserve some of the local, seasonal bounty which surrounds us at this time of the year. Participants in this hands-on workshop with Caitlin Dorward will learn safe techniques using the boiling water bath method, and will be able to take home a jar or two of what we make.$25, plus $6 materials fee. Please pre-register. 50% Subsidies on the non-materials portion of the workshop fee are available to low income residents of Vancouver with a Leisure Access Card. 2. COMMERCIAL DRIVE VILLAGE VANCOUVER POTLUCKS AND WORKSHOPS

Potluck (6:30-7:30pm): Bring something yummy for the potluck.
Workshop (7:30-8:30pm) – Herb Walk: Join local villager Nikoo as she leads us on a walk around the neighborhood identifying herbs. She will talk about some of their culinary and medicinal uses and help us to discover the unknown herbs growing in our urban environment.

Where: Rising Star Housing Co-op (1556 E. 5th Ave.) common room
