With the onslaught of GMO corn, one of 4 GMO crops now grown in Canada, we are losing traditional varieties of corn at an alarming rate. Take action and ask your grocer if your corn is GMO. You’re invited to a special day-long symposium exploring the connection between social housing and food security on November 20, 2013 in Richmond, BC. Housing and Hunger in BC: A symposium linking lived experience, policy, research and programming is presented by BC Non-Profit Housing Association (BCNPHA) in partnership with Vancouver Coastal Health and the Food Security in Social Housing Working Group. Our long-term goal is to facilitate systemic change by identifying housing policies, programs, infrastructure, and design that will improve and sustain food security for social housing tenants.

2. THE FOOD 2 U PROGRAM
The Food 2 U Program is a partnership between the Vancouver Food Bank and Vancouver Coastal Health. The program delivers food to homebound seniors or persons with a disability most Tuesday mornings and is looking for volunteer drivers (with their own car) and passengers. Mileage will be reimbursed for those using their vehicles. Volunteers must be able to work well with people and be physically able to lift 20-25 lb grocery bags.
